Our Client, a multi-site refiner and distributor of petroleum products, has an immediate opening for an Operations Superintendent at one of its refineries in Texas.
Responsible for ensuring safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation of Crude and Area operating units. Supervise union wage roll employees. Good communication skills and problem solving abilities along with strong technical abilities are necessary. Strong leadership and inter-personal skills are essential.
Units in this Area consist of: Crude/Vacuum, Solvent Deasphalting, Semi-Regen Reformer, Naphtha Hydrotreater, Jet Hydrotreater, Diesel Hydrotreater, Gas Oil Hydrotreater, Aromatics Processing, Saturated Light Ends, Two Sulfur Plants, and Sour Water Stripper.
Supervise operators in Crude and Area Operating Units Ensure all rules set forth in the collective bargaining agreement are followedRepresent the company on company/union concerns and grievances
Address any personnel issues including training, vacation scheduling, work schedules, disciplinary issues and approving timesheets
Review operation of units on daily basis Review lab sample resultsReview energy usage for unitsLead unit optimization and troubleshooting initiatives
Provide daily orders for units
Work with maintenance & project engineering departments: Prioritize daily maintenance itemsDevelop turnaround work scopes for unitsDevelop start-up and shut down timeline for unit outageWork with capital/maintenance group on timing and scope for maintenance/capital projectsDevelop and promote safety, environmental, and operation improvement projects.
Direct, coordinate, or participate in the Management of Change process
Ensure operating permits, rules and regulations are complied with
Provide training and daily guidance, maintain operating procedures and update training materials, and ensure personnel training requirement/documentation are up-to-date
Manage operations budget categories
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (four year college or university)
At least 5-10 years of refinery experience including a minimum of 3-5 years in supervisory or management role.
